Festival of Japanese Culture in Odessa

From August 25 to September 3, 2017 in Odessa is held the festival of Japanese culture.

The festival is held within the framework of the Year of Japan in Ukraine and the 25th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the states.

The festival of Japanese culture in Odessa was opened by the 21st festival of Go's game "Odessa Gold". The competition was attended by players from 6 to 76 years old from Odessa, Rivne, Kiev, Zaporozhye and Tokyo.

In the  Shevchenko Park, near the stage "Shell", hosted a martial arts festival. Athletes from different countries performed with demonstration performances, presenting not only karate, but also martial arts such as sambo, taekwondo and boxing.

September 1 at 12:00 on the Cathedral Square will be held master classes on ikebana, origami, Japanese language, Hanafud, chambar and other arts.

September 3 at 12:00 demonstration performances of masters of martial arts will be held in the Odessa Museum of Western and Oriental art.

Also on this day at 12:00 the Museum of Western and Oriental Art invites to the tea ceremony, and at 4:00 pm - to the presentation of the book of Odessa hokku writers. During the master classes, those who wish can get acquainted with the technique of adding Japanese trehstish and try themselves in this genre of Japanese poetry.
