Opening and Literary & Musical Performance of the Flatbed Exhibition “Constantine Cavafy — Life and Works” (1863-1933)

UNESCO and the Ministry of Education and Sports of Greece have announced 2013 — the year of Constantine Cavafy (1863-1933), as the 150th Anniversary of his birth and 80th Anniversary of his death was on April 29, 2013.Cavafy was instrumental in the revival and recognition of Greek poetry both at home and abroad. His poems are, typically, concise but intimate evocations of real or literary figures and milieux that have played roles in Greek culture.
Cavafy drew his themes from personal experience, along with a deep and wide knowledge of history, especially of the Hellenistic era.

The flatbed photo exhibition, created by the Hellenic Foundation for Culture, includes information from the biography of C. Cavafy, his way of life, personal documentary photos, as well as members of his family, the environment, editions of his works in 25 languages ​​of the world, personal notes, manuscripts of works, letters, etc.The opening of the exhibition will be accompanied by the literary and musical performance of Cavafy’s art and Greek composers in the performance of soprano soloist Sonia Feodoridi (Greece) and Honored Artist of Ukraine, the artist of Odessa Academic Russian Drama Theater Sergei Polyakov.
